After more than 30 years of 9 a.m. meetings, the Minnehaha County Commission will begin meeting at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesdays. Commissioner Gerald Beninga proposed the change, saying the earlier time would cut less into staff's office time.

A Minnehaha County judge will decide whether Rodney Berget will receive the death penalty. Berget's sentencing phase begins Monday. In November he pleaded guilty to killing correctional Officer Ronald Johnson last April.
